Brockbanks, London, corrected by Thomas Earnshaw, spring detent pocket chronometer, 15 jewels, key wind and set, gilt full plate movement with Earnshaw's escapement, Z balance with helical balance spring and wedge shaped weights in a sterling silver, hinged back and bezel, consular open face case with London hallmark and date letter for the year 1810, with Roman numeral, white enamel dial, signed "THOMAS EARNSHAW INVt. ET FECIT", blued steel spade and poker hands, serial #3537, 59mm.
CONDITION:
CASE: Not original to movement, fits well, nice recase; Dings and pin pricks; Minor scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on inner surface of case; Crystal with manufacturing flaws; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairline in enamel, light, 11:00- 12:00; Spider hairlines, 3:00- 4:00, edge at 7:30. HANDS: Minor oxidation. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Screw heads with loss to blue; Balance cock screw with spot of rust; Empty screw and steady pin holes from pre Earnshaw configuration; Balance arms with discoloration from heat; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Not running, fusee chain missing, will run with pressure on train, needs service and adjustment.
